Raw Hair Extensions
Here are some essential haircare tips to keep your raw hair extensions looking gorgeous and long-lasting:
1. Gentle Washing
Use sulfate-free and paraben-free shampoos and conditioners to avoid stripping the natural oils from the hair.
Gently detangle the hair before washing, and wash it in a downward motion to prevent tangling.
Avoid washing too frequently; aim for once every 1-2 weeks, depending on product buildup.
2. Deep Conditioning
Regular deep conditioning is crucial for raw hair extensions to retain moisture. Use a high-
quality moisturizing or repairing mask every 2-3 weeks.
Leave the conditioner on for 10-15 minutes, or as directed, for maximum effect.
3. Air Drying
Avoid excessive heat by letting your extensions air dry whenever possible. Use a microfiber towel or a soft cotton t-shirt to squeeze out excess water gently.
If you must blow-dry, use a heat protectant and set your dryer to a low-heat setting.
4. Detangle Carefully
Use a wide-tooth comb or a detangling brush to gently comb through the extensions, starting from the ends and working your way up.
Detangle while the hair is damp and conditioned to minimize breakage.
5. Protective Styling
When sleeping, wrap your hair in a silk or satin scarf or sleep on a silk pillowcase to reduce friction and prevent frizz.
Consider braiding or twisting the hair loosely at night to keep it from tangling.
6. Minimize Heat Styling
Heat can dry out raw hair, so limit the use of curling irons, straighteners, and blow dryers.
If you do use heat, always apply a heat protectant to safeguard the hair from damage.
7. Avoid Heavy Products
Stick to lightweight serums and avoid heavy oils or gels that can cause buildup and make the extensions appear greasy.
Less is more when it comes to products. A light serum or leave-in conditioner can help maintain shine and smoothness.
